Privacy Policy

This policy covers the BandGap website. It is written to be read, not to protect us – if anything here is unclear, ask and we'll explain it plainly.
The short version. You can explore the simulator without giving us anything. If you fill in the "find a rep" form, we pass what you wrote to the lighting representative who covers your region, because that's the entire point of the form. We don't sell your information, we don't track you around the web, and any advertising we run is measured only through the analytics described below.

What we collect
If you only look around: we use two analytics tools to understand how the site and the simulator are used. Vercel Web Analytics counts page views without cookies or identifiers. Google Analytics 4 is set up with Consent Mode: until you press Accept on the bar at the bottom of the page, it stores nothing on your device and receives only cookieless, anonymised pings; if you accept, it sets its usual analytics cookies so that visits can be counted as returning ones and so that we can measure the effect of any advertising we run. Declining is remembered for a year and nothing further is asked. Neither tool is used to sell or share your information, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers on this site.
If you submit the rep enquiry form, we receive what you typed:
- Your name and email address
- Your company, if you give one
- Your professional role, if you select one
- The region you selected and the type of space
- Anything you write in the message field
Our servers also record the time of the submission, the IP address it came from, and your browser's user-agent string. We keep those only to investigate spam and abuse. They are never shown to representatives and are not used to build a profile of you.
Why we collect it, and what we do with it
We use it for one purpose: to connect you with a lighting representative who can help with your project. Specifically, your enquiry is shared with the Casambi regional manager for the territory you selected, and with the rep partner firm that serves that territory, where one does.
Representatives see your name, email, company, role, space type, message, and when you got in touch. They do not see your IP address or browser details.
Once your enquiry has been passed on, that representative's own privacy practices govern how they handle it. We are not able to control what they do with information you have chosen to share with them.
We may also look at enquiries in aggregate – how many came from each region, which space types come up most – to decide what to build next. That analysis doesn't identify anyone.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information to anyone
- We don't use it for advertising, and we don't run ads on this site
- We don't add you to a marketing list without you asking
- We don't track your activity across other websites
Legal basis
We handle your enquiry because you asked us to – you tick a box explicitly agreeing that we may share it with the representative for your region, and we don't submit anything without it. Where UK or EU law applies, that consent is our lawful basis, and you may withdraw it at any time.
Where it's stored, and for how long
Enquiries are stored on servers in the United States, operated by our hosting and database providers under contract to us. Access is restricted to Art, Design & Marketing, Inc. and to the representative for the relevant territory.
We keep enquiries for as long as they're commercially useful – normally no more than 24 months – and delete them after that unless you've asked us to keep in touch.
Your choices
Write to adam@lenio.net and we will, without fuss:
- Tell you what we hold about you
- Send you a copy of it
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete it
- Stop sharing it with representatives going forward
We aim to respond within a few days, and within 30 days at the outside. If you're in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changing your analytics choice. Click Privacy choices in the footer of any page and the consent bar comes back; whatever you pick replaces your earlier answer, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a decline automatically and never ask. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising; if that ever changes, this page and the footer will say so.
Cookies and local storage
Google Analytics sets its cookies only after you accept on the consent bar (see What we collect). Your answer to the bar itself is kept in your browser's local storage for a year. Parts of the simulator may also store settings in local storage so that a room you've configured survives a page refresh. That data stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Children
This is a professional tool for the lighting industry and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Third parties we rely on
We use a small number of service providers to run the site – hosting and page-view counting (Vercel), a database, email delivery, and Google Analytics as described above. They process information on our instructions only. We don't share your information with anyone else except the representatives described above.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top. Enquiries already submitted continue to be handled under the terms in place when you sent them.
